Teller County Reserves and Posse Support the Pikes Peak Hill Climb
On August 28th, the law enforcement professionals of the Teller County Sheriff’s Office supported the 98th running of the Broadmoor Pikes Peak International Hill Climb. Because of COVID-19, the State of Colorado mandated that the event had to be run without spectators. Since they didn’t want the state to shut down the event, the organizers asked for assistance from TCSO in enforcing the state’s no-spectator rule. Posse members and reserve deputies signed up to help with the effort. By and large, the people TCSO talked to were pleasant and understanding when the situation was explained to them. Because of the efforts of the law enforcement professionals and the understanding of the people who wanted to be spectators, the racers were able to complete the entire event.
In our efforts to continue to support our volunteers, the HDSA provided representation. While race-day was very unconventional, he enjoyed helping out where he could.
